Checking out the Solar Eclipse!
The eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024, will be a total solar eclipse. It will be the last total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States until 2044.
A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. People viewing the eclipse from locations where the Moon’s shadow completely covers the Sun – known as the path of totality – will experience a total solar eclipse. The sky will become dark, as if it were dawn or dusk. Weather permitting, people along the path of totality will see the Sun’s corona, or outer atmosphere, which is usually obscured by the bright face of the Sun.
8 of our chess club students competed in the Region 3 elementary school chess tournament today. Each student earned a bronze or silver medal, having won at least one game. Thank you to Mr. Donald and Mr. Davis for coaching our competitors.
We had our last house meeting of the year today and we went big! We had an egg hunt. K, 1st, and 2nd grade students picked up eggs while their 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade partner held the eggs. The kids picked up over 3,000 eggs in a few minutes. Congratulations to Ganbari for collecting the most eggs and earning bonus house points. Thank you to our student leaders for putting out the eggs for the hunt. Also, thank you Mrs. Ross and Mr. Donald for dressing up and starting the hunt.
